Dean Carey and Hugh Jackman
OneLife’s Success of the Month Dean Carey
“Roy came to visit my company 10 years ago upon my request and I was so proud to show him around”.
We met the next week and he asked about my values – my passions – my vision – my dreams. I then made an uncomfortable realization – I was dreaming big, and thinking small.
Therefore, the company was a direct and perfect reflection of the limiting idea I had held about it. From my childhood and from the world I was bought up in, the mandate was, “Wouldn’t it be great, but…”. That final word hung like an inescapable, impenetrable shied between my imagination and the reality I saw. Even though I longed for changes and growth for the Company, I put more energy into what was, or what might, hold us back – and every small or big block I interpreted as an enormous neon sign – WRONG WAY – GO BACK.
Then I experienced Born Rich (Abundance). After which I invited 5 of my staff to do the same… The ideas presented in that program helped create what was simply not possible for me to do alone… The ignition switch in 1997 transformed both myself and, of course, those around me and the company itself. Now 22 years on, Actors Centre Australia continues to evolve and FLY with Hugh Jackman now as our Patron and a great supporter.
It has been a remarkable 12 years since Born Rich and one, I can say hand on heart, would never have occurred if it wasn’t for the motivation and inspiration of the ideas that flowed so freely from that time with Roy and the program. I look around and do not recognise myself nor my life – BUT – I wrote it on a card and it came to be, and that’s the magic and the miracle of wise ideas aligned with informed action…
I had so many moments when I didn’t see my vision – I learnt that faith is keeping one’s drive alive in all the places and spaces when your vision is not in evidence. And so we kept moving positively and practically, not being stopped by small thinking, nor overreaching and pushing the ‘positive’ bandwagon – the shadow side of motivation, a sort of, ‘Get with the program and jump onboard or else…!!’. Methodically, and often painstakingly, we built the systems that would support the vision, and the vision led us as to where to place our energies and our focus. What you give energy to and focus on does definitely grow… And we kept vigilant that the ideas we focused on were in line with our values and reflected our spirit. There is no formula, and there definitely is no secret. It’s the understanding and application of wise ideas that counts…
As Bob Proctor says: there’s motivation, then there’s education – Born Rich was one of the best educations I ever had the privilege to be motivated by…
Thank you to one and all…”
